Ferndale
Unified School District serves the residents of Ferndale.
Fortuna High School District and Fortuna Union Elementary School District serve the community of Fortuna. Within Fortuna are other districts that include Loleta, Rohnersville, Hydesville, Cuddleback, Rio Dell, Union, Scotia, and Bridgeville.
Klamath-Trinity Joint Unified School District serves the residents of Hoopa and surrounding areas.
Mattole Unified School District is located in Petrolia along the Northern Pacific coast.
Northern Humboldt High School District serves the residents of Arcata, Blue Lake, Trinidad, McKinleyville and surrounding communities. Other districts in the area include Jacoby Creek Charter School, Maple Creek, Green Point, Orick, Big Lagoon and Pacific Union.
Southern Humboldt Unified School District serves Garberville, Redway, Miranda, Weott, Blocksburg and Whitethorn.

Higher Education - Humboldt State University in Arcata is a four year university.
34 schools have received a total of 54 Distinguished School Awards and there are 6 "Blue Ribbon Schools."
Teachers of the Year Award has been awarded to two teachers in the area and a finalist and there have been 3 Milken Foundation Award winners. Presidential Excellence in Science/Math Teaching Awards have earned by 2 teachers.
There have been 2 State Spelling Bee winners
including the only 3-time winner in the state. Science Fair Project of the
year in 2000 and Science Fair Student of the year in 2001. The National History
Day Awards has two winners in the district. There have been 2 recipients of
the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship Award.

and inter district transfers. This policy allows your child to attend the
facility of your choice within the district in which you reside.
